Essential For An English Summer: Cotton Jumpers

Here's one I forgot from my summer essentials, because I'd forgotten just how unpredictable a British summer truly is, only to be reminded by a storm in London last week.

A small selection of cotton jumpers is something every man needs in his summer wardrobe (which should already have the summer essentials I had posted earlier in it); providing warmth on those days with middling weather - which seem to constitute the majority of summer - but if the day warms up slightly, you won't be drenched in sweat and let's be honest (we're all friends here after all), few things are more repulsive than a man who smells, regardless of how well he is dressed. Simple jumpers look good with just about everything, whether it be worn over a polo shirt or under a blazer.

Hackett - producers of all things magnificent (and classic) - have the above classic V-neck jumper with a detail I love: elbow patches. When I saw the jumper in a shop I was shocked to see the patches, but I am rather fond of them, even if they remind me of my geography teacher from my days at school; he was stylish enough for me to accept this association without too much shame, though.
I'm a man of the people, however, and what kind of man would I be if I didn't provide you with choice. This time, however, it isn't a cheap(er) one, but rather a different take on the same item.
If you're in the market for something a little more interesting than a basic V-neck, try Gant's cable neck jumper.

They're available just about everywhere and while I hope to be visiting Hackett or Gant for mine, I'd wander over to Uni-Qlo's website since they currently have an offer on. Just remember not to be afraid of colour!
